Who was the 1450th visitor?

It was my old compatriot Colonel Norman Wiard. Colonel, your persistence is appreciated. Interesting book you wrote: Wiard, Norman. GREAT GUNS. THE CAUSE OF THEIR FAILURE AND TRUE METHOD OF CONSTRUCTING THEM. NY: 1863. 1st ed., wraps, 98p., illus., diagrams, tables. This pamphlet, written for the government’s edification, documents the failures of the military’s heavy ordnance. These shortcomings would presumably be corrected by the author’s designs. Wiard did design several excellent artillery pieces for the War Department. Inscribed to Union General Nathan P. Banks “MG N. P. Banks”; wrps., in fold. protective bds.; lt. fox; lt. stain; else v.g.; $475.00
